Grant Review Committee Guidelines

Listed below, in no specific order, are the general guidelines utilized by the Worthington Educational Foundation Grant Review Committee in evaluating grant applications for recommendation to the Worthington Education Foundation Board of Trustees for funding. It is important to note that these guidelines may be applied or weighted differently in particular situations depending on the facts and circumstances of individual applications. All or some of these guidelines may be utilized with respect to any application, at the Committee’s discretion, and the Committee at all times reserves the right to consider additional criteria.

  1. Is the project creative?
  2. Is the project innovative?
  3. Is the project linked to specific Worthington School District goals?
  4. Does the project enrich and enhance learning opportunities for students? How?
  5. Does the project benefit a significant number of students?
  6. Does the project provide improvement and professional growth opportunities for staff?
  7. Has the applicant obtained input and/or approval from appropriate administrative personnel (e.g., technology, Teaching & Learning, etc.)?
  8. Does the project include funding for food, transportation, compensation and/or consumables (generally not funded)?
  9. If the project includes purchase of tangible property, have appropriate steps been taken to include the property in the District/building property inventory?
  10. Can the project be sustained and continued in the future, and if additional funds are needed, what is the source?
  11. What data has been provided to support the need for the project?
  12. Is the project plan clear, concise, and well organized with appropriate support and evaluation mechanisms in place?
  13. Is the project budget clear and detailed?
  14. Has the applicant explored multiple sources for the purchase of equipment/materials to ensure the lowest pricing?
  15. Has the applicant sought funding for any portion of the project from other sources (e.g., PTA/PTO)?
  16. Has the applicant sought in-kind donations from local businesses or other sources?
  17. Can the project be replicated in other classrooms or buildings?
  18. Does the project involve a collaborative effort of multiple staff, classes, departments, etc.?
  19. What is the project timeline?
  20. How will the project directly impact student achievement?
  21. If technology hardware, software or equipment is involved, is it compatible and consistent with District standards; and are the same or similar resources already available?
