From 1972 – 1988 Mary was actively involved as a parent volunteer in Worthington Schools. At Worthington High School she initiating the Parent Volunteer Program, and served as PTA President and V.P of the Activity Club. She also volunteered in multiples capacities at Worthington Hills Elementary and Perry Middle School. Mary Chaired the Worthington Community Coordinating Board, Co-Chaired a School Levy Campaign, and was named Civic Leader of the Year by the Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club.

From 1987-96 Mary was Director of the Franklin County Educational Council’s Safe and Drug Free Schools Consortium, serving Franklin County’s 16 Public Schools Districts and all non-publics schools.

Other volunteer activities include membership in and various leadership service in The Columbus Symphony Orchestra League, The Columbus Museum of Art’s Women’s Board and Sessions Society, Franklin Park Conservatory Women’s Board, United Way of Central Ohio – Health Vision Council, and Leadership Worthington’s Board of Trustees. Her son David and daughter Gretchen graduated from Worthington High School, having completed their entire k-12 education in the District.

Mary has a Bachelors Degree in Communications from Denison University and a Masters Degree in Theatre Direction from Wayne State University. Mary previously taught high school English, Public Speaking and Theatre in Northern Virginia’s Fairfax County Schools.
